string of pearls
help! my string of pearls looks weird. i can’t tell if it’s over or underwatered. i dont water it that much but nothing changes when i water it. the pearls are mushy and shriveled and a weird shape. anyone know what’s going on?

Sarah Hmmm...do you have a photo of the shriveled parts? It looks good from this photo, but from the sounds of it - it's being overwatered. How often do you water this guy?!

Pei From the photo, it looks SUPER happy though. is it the most recent photo?

Brittany L Roth this is the most recent. in the upper left of the pot there are some weird looking pearls, im not sure if it’s something i should worry about or if it’s normal. they’re also super squishy and wet and some of them pop if i touch them

Pei I see it now!! Yea, that sounded and looked like overwater issue. How much sun does it get? String of pearls need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight to thrive. With the correct light, you only need to water once every 10 days or two weeks. Depends on the season, sometimes could be even longer...

Parker Might be root rot, does that pot have good drainage?

Brittany L Roth it’s a standard terra-cotta pot so it has one hole at the bottom. i also put some small pebbles at the bottom so the whole never gets clogged.

Parker Ok, Terracotta pots are also good because they have pores that let the water come out.
